It’s Not Chalk, a Beginner’s Introduction to Painting with Soft (Dry) Pastels
Wednesday, October 15th – 1-4 pm
This is a three hour introductory class for adults ages 18+ interested in learning all about dry pastels, pastel papers, and basic techniques for painting with this wonderful medium. We will cover:
Materials provided by instructor:
Lisa provides tabletop easels and a backer board on which you will tape your paper for your painting, and also disposable table covers. In addition, she will have samples of various types of pastels and papers for you to play with and get a feel for how they respond to your pastels.
Materials attendees should bring:
A basic set of dry pastels. NuPastel and Rembrandt are popular harder pastels and soft pastels like Terry Ludwig (made in Littleton) or Sennelier (France) are some of the most widely used softer pastels worldwide. Dakotapastels.com sells many types and you can also find them locally at Meininger’s. The very inexpensive ones can be found at Hobby Lobby and Michael’s.
Cost:
$45 per person; or $39 per person, each, if you bring a friend/family member. Payment is via Venmo to @LisaFahertyArt or Lisa can take payment over the phone via Square. Payment for class is due no later than Monday October 13, 2025.
