Slow Sew: Home Edition

Sunday, April 7th, 12pm-2pm

Class Description: Learn to embrace the art of slow stitching while making a 12” x 12” napkin. You’ll delve into the serene world of hand stitching, inspired by the principles of slow movements and being in the moment. Guided by professional fiber artist, Dale, you will engage in the gentle rhythm of a needle and thread.

During our Slow Sew classes, we prioritize the process over the outcome, encouraging participants to savor each stitch and embrace imperfections as part of the beauty of handmade creations. Through techniques such as basic stitching and embroidery, you’ll explore this therapeutic power as a form of self-expression and soul nurturing movement.

All Included : 100% cotton fabric, needles, and thread

Ages: Ages 16 and up

Location: Meet us in the “Who Gives a Scrap” Classroom. Turn left when you enter the front door and head to the back of the Sales Floor.

Instructor: Dale Mueller Smith BS, MA, BA

Studio Artist, WGaS 2023

I am a Contemporary Fiber Artist who enjoys all things fiber: from soft embroidery floss to paper to hard barbed wire! I have consistently exhibited my visual art in galleries around town. My professional experience includes working for the Fine Arts Center at CC, the Manitou Art Center, and the Bemis School of Art. My creative curriculum development and teaching has included people from 3 to 83!

At this moment in time, I am interested in the intuitive and spontaneous process of creating art for home, fashion, and galleries “as the creative art spirit moves through me” in real time. I look forward to creating next to you!!!
